75g Skimmer Recommendations

This will be a medium stocked upgrade to my current 65g SPS tank (different space in new house). No budget constraints- I want quality, consistency, and longevity. Thinking a Bashsea smart 36 sump so space should be no concern as I don’t run a fuge or any reactors.

What’s worked well for you? Currently run a Deltec SCA1351 that hasn’t had a hiccup since I got it but it’s a pain when I get a couple bubble algae or baby snails in the impeller I have to remove the whole skimmer to clean it.

-Reef Octopus Elite 150- long rep and worked well when I had them 10 yrs ago
-BK Double Cone 150- German pumps have always been bulletproof for me
-ATB?- Heard they were sold and not same quality.

I have been happy with my Reef Octopus. The motor started making a weird sound after about a year. I pulled it out, gave it a good cleaning and running like new again. I should have been more proactive on cleaning it.

Pretty good thinking. I use the Prime 150 and I believe the elite is the same skimmer with a DC pump. It is a solid skimmer and should fit well for a 75 gallon if not a bit on the large side.

+1 RO 150, I run at 3/5 on the varios. Skims great, very quiet.

LifeReef SVS-24, order without the magdrive pump and use a sicce ADV 7.0 and never look back.

Ended up going with the last AC BK Mini 160
left in the factory. Heard they are set it and forget it and that swayed my choice.

Thought I would follow up on this. BK mini 160 is perfectly sized for this tank and bioload and has run flawlessly. Literally never needs adjustment, never goes crazy, etc. Only problem is the ac pump is fairly loud and the vibration resonates in my living room.

I would go for the new one but I can’t justify spending a grand on a German skimmer body with a dang jebao pump so I may try like a RO Regal 150sss.

Could you do me a favor and measure the diameter of the neck please? I have a lifereef 24 and the only thing I don't like about it is the dwell time. Don't get me wrong it's a great skimmer it just seems like a ton of the body is wasted space. I have around 70 gallons total and it produces a very stable foam, I contacted bashsea and they told me that the 6-24 would not be overkill and would work on my system, my only concern it the neck being so wide.
