I have the opportunity to upgrade to a 100g. I'm wondering if the extra foot in length is worth it. I plan on having maybe a one spot foxface, blue hippo tang, flame angel. Also a 125g is a possibility, I would lose some cabinet space though. Any thoughts? Thanks

The extra foot makes a huge difference. I went from a 4 foot 90G, just a few inches taller than your 75, to a 5 foot 100G 6 years ago and love it.

Well bigger is always better for the fish and wow factor, but can you afford 2 or 3 buckets a month of salt. Also can you afford bigger skimmer and powerheads and a chiller and lights. That in a nut shell is what it comes down to.

The 100 is 25 gallons bigger than the 75, it will not cost much more to own and operate that what you have now but the WOW factor of the extra foot is worth it. I don't go through 3 buckets of salt in a year?

I wouldnt put a Hippo tang in the 180 I have right now, but yet the firehouse down the block has one in a 55. I'm sure people put them in 75/90/100/125 gals and honestly I cant get mad at the ones who keep them on the latter part of that list.. but even a 75 against a 55 is a major improvement. Honestly I feel if you were to put it in your 75 you could be potentially saving one from somebodies 20gal.

Anyway, bigger is better.. If you can fit the 125, look into a 180 as well. I love the dimensions of mine, 2 foot wide gives you a lot to work with.
They can be had for cost, look around. I got mine for 800 bucks reef ready. Take your time.. In this hobby rush turns to regret.

I say bigger is going to be great good luck ! can't wait to see the progress ;)

Let just say you add a foot in any direction in your house it would be greatly noticeable. The same it goes with fish tanks because more room for fish to swim.

Thank you everyone. Looks like it is already time to upgrade lol. I know the blue hippo tang will outgrow any tank I get but I fully intend to find it a new home once it gets too big. My LFS has a DT that is huge and will take back any fish that gets too large. Thanks everyone! I appreciate the advice.
