75gal centerpiece ideas

Hi, I am looking for suggestions on a centerpiece for a 75gal. I got a great suggestion already for a yellow tang. Does anyone have a few other ideas? Thank you.

I have a dusky jawfish and that always is the talk of the tank when people come over. Also a small fox face would be very cool. As a final option you could add an engineer goby would be cool if you like oddball fish.

75 is slightly on the low side for a yellow tang once it’s full grown. I’d hate for you to become attached and then either
A) trade / sell it
B) keep it and have it live stressed and see the effects on it

There’s a few tangs like tomini or bristle tooth that would be good in a 75

Other option would be a nice group of 3 anthia (1m 2f)

Is your tank highly stocked? If it is understocked, you might be able to get away with a foxface or yellow tang.

I think my tank is moderately stocked.

Yeah, you could maybe get away with it. You just have to kept your waterchange schedule and you could be okay.

Anthia group example in my 75

I had another female too. Just not in the pic. Very colorful and active and they were always out, they got along with my other fish also

Foxface is too big for that tank, they get big fast. What else is in your tank??

Just keep in mind they are harem fish! Beautiful though! Also some dwarf angels are beautiful as well!

Yes they are incredible fish! They need to be kept in odd numbers. 1, 3, 5 etc
And only 1 male. The rest females. Stores know this and sell them sexed

1 male and 2 females works great for a 75. Its a group that will interact with each other, be out in the open all the time and add a ton of color and personality.

Thank you for the info on the anthias and the recommendations on the dwarf angels. My tank stock is going to be( can be adjusted) :
fairy wrasse
cardinal fish 2-3 clownfish pair
4 blue green or blue reef chromis
goby of some type
yellow head jawfish
hawkfish

You will end up with 1 chromis in time…I have tried this several times. One will become dominate and will harass the others one by one until they die of stres or injury.

I’ve tried groups of 5, 3 and 2 over the course of many years. Each time it ends up the same.

I have 3 Cardinal fish. Sometimes they are grouped together. Sometimes the biggest chases the smallest. No actual nipping just a little chase here and there . I’ve had them 1.5 years and still have 3

Keep in mind chromis are in the damsel family and damsels are aggressive when they get older

Any suggestions for another schooling fish if chromis don’t work?

There really aren’t any. Our 75 is to small. A school needs many fish like a dozen so the aggression so spread out better, and more space so the one being chased has more room to flee and get away

Closest i can get to work are anthia and cardinal fish. But cardinals don’t really swim much, they just hover and stare and occasionally chase. And the anthia don’t school but they do hang out together sometimes and interact peacefully

Schooling isn’t a peaceful social thing, it’s a defensive thing. They school so if a predator comes there is a better chance of an individual surviving. There is a thread on schooling I saw in the last day or two, I believe it was for a larger tank and said they need to introduce an aggressive fish to encourage others to school
