76 day QT really necessary?

What are the chances of me encountering the 76-day ich strain on a coral or on inverts? is it really necessary to do 76 days or is 45 days sufficient enough to kill everything except for that particular strain?

Depends I don’t qt at all. But if I did qt I would go the extra month if you went that long what’s one more month. Nothing good happens fast in this hobby.

I read online that there was a scientific study completed recently that checked ich survival time without fish compared to temp. I can’t say I’m smart enough to understand the study, but those that are concluded that a 6 week fallow time is safe if the water temp is held above 81F for the whole time.
