Hi all,I know a 6 bulb fixture is recommended for an 18"tank,back to front, but is there any harm in using an 8 bulb unit?,I really like to stick 2 actinic in the mix and don't want to sacrifice slots, thanks in advance.

No rule that says you can't use an 8 bulb on that tank. You're just going to have the bulb on either end of the fixture over the front and rear panes of the tank. Nothing 'wrong' with that though

With most ati combos , no actinic , an eight bulb ati fixture will give you
About 1200 + par at 12in from the fixture.
150-175 per tube.

You mount it higher or use s couple less tubes of course.

The true actincs I think we’re about half the par.

Do a 6 bulb for 18". 8 bulbs will be completely unnecessary, even if you run 2 true actinic bulbs.
