8 gallon BC ideas

I would totally do black sand. I pulled these images from Google as an idea.

Oh my:eek:. Maybe it was just a friendly, innocent gathering haha. It will probably be at least another month before we do another fish order, probably 2 actually. We don't sell many fish at my store obviously haha. Probably because we tell everyone no because they have no idea what a cycle even is lol. Our location doesn't even have saltwater anymore because it was only me and one other girl buying anything:( anyway the point is I'll be waiting awhile yet for my shrimpies:) my hubby actually complemented my rocks tonight which is a big deal because that means he looked at the tank haha. He seemed disappointed because I told him they weren't staying there. He said he prefers the white look and doesn't like that the rocks in my cube are purple hahaha. He also complemented me by saying "I make rocks look good", I think he likes my 'scapes ;) lol

You're something.............. but I have to give it to you that your scapes looking good!
That Black Hawaiian sand does look good with the shrimp and your hubby will like your scapes even more :)

Ok tank is finally off of my counter and in its final resting place, I hope lol. My handsome man is checking it out for his approval. My cat I mean haha.

Please excuse my ratty couch. Fun story, we bought a new couch 2 weeks ago and couldn't get it in the house. They must make all couches puffier then they used to lol. So I'm stuck with this one for a while still. Anyway there were some setbacks. When I turned on the lights this morning my whites sputtered out. Turns out the ballast died on me and since I am trying to make this my cheapo tank I refuse to replace it. So bring on the par 38:) the other set back was me not using foresight as usual haha. Since my table lamp was on a stand where the tank now sits I had to get a floor lamp. I thought perfect, I can get one with a reading lamp attached and put the par 38 in that. So I ran to walmart and grabbed the last one on the shelf. Only after setting it up and getting it into place I realize that there is only 1 cord powering the whole lamp, so I can't use a timer unless I want to sit in the dark after the tank lights go out:( and I hate to use the ceiling light because it's way too bright and I'm a vampire haha. I suppose I could always get another floor lamp for on the other side of the couch so all is not lost. And on the bright side that little reading lamp is the perfect hight for the tank:) I will be going to the lfs in the morning, mainly for my cube, but I might pick up something for this tank:)

That Nano is some story on it's own.

It's funny that I update this tanks thread much more often then my cube's. I think it's because I already had the cube up and running when I joined so it wasn't a real build thread. This wasn't supposed to be a build thread, but that's what it is turning into haha.

Anemone tank!!! Woot!!

I was kicking around the idea or a rock nem tank:) I'm sure they would be fine with the par 38. I got one at the last frag swap for my cube and now I want 100 haha

A few Rock nem's and a awesome Inferno nem that's what that tank need.
Oh  Did I told you that my Inferno split like a four times last month ;)

Does that mean you are sending me a baby;)? Haha. Would a par 38 even support a bta? If not my nems in the cube could use a friend lol:D

I can't compete with your hubby but if that baby your are talking about is a nem then we can work something out
Not sure if the PAR38 would support it but maybe others can shed some light on it as I never have done the PAR38 ;)

Ha, maybe I should have specified:) and this is a first for me too, but what better tank to try it out on then this one? Worst case I can only keep softies and anything else I decide to put in there will just have to be moved to my other tank. Or knowing me nothing will get moved and I will end up dropping a whole paycheck on new lighting hahaha

I had briefly scanned that thread earlier today. I'll try to read it in depth tomorrow, sometime between the lfs trip, cleaning my house, and the mother inlaws birthday dinner lol.

Rock nems would be pretty sick!! Flip for it lol. :D heads rock nem, tails bta. Ha!

Ok and if it's tails then @Diesel has to give me a baby nem hahahaha;)

I got the par 38 and the acrylic top done (I still have to cut out notches for the cords) and everyone in my house is going crazy over the change lol. My son immediately climbed on the couch and started patting the top, hoping to splash like in the tub lol, and my little smooshy face has a new favorite place to sit. Which is going to have to change obviously haha.

Can you tell it's time to get him groomed lol. I did end up putting electrical tape over the red led because it was a bit too much. My hubby picked out the first fish, I agreed, but I think he will be getting moved to the cube at some point.

I am expecting a box of corals today so I will be moving some from the cube to this tank later:) my dad is coming for a visit this weekend and he always loves the tanks so I gotta give him something to look at in there lol.

That sure is a fluffy cat. I feel sorry for him since he ran into a wall. haha

If your on the fence between a black and a white sand, they make a "salt n pepper" like sand.
