So I am looking to build a 80/20 aluminum stand for my tank. I am pretty handy and don't mind doing my research, but I am lost on this one. I have a marineland 150 gal extra deep tank, so it is 48x24. I guess I am confused on where to start, how do I know what size I need for the weight? Also I see some people using corner braces and others not. Can anyone help?

I have an 80/20 stand for my 40B and I used the 1515-ULS profile. I think you'll want a vertical brace in the middle of the 48" length of the tank. There are a number of fastening methods you can use. It really depends on what you're looking for aesthetically.

I'd think the 30 or 45 profiles would be fine for your 150.

how did you come up with the 1515 profile, did you contact the manufacture? BTW great looking setup!

I contacted them first about using the Quick Frame and they suggested I go with the T-slot profiles for more stability and strength. I mentioned that it would likely be supporting ~500 lbs and they assured me 15 mm profile would be more than enough.

Ah ok. I will contact them and let them know what I'm doing and maybe they will help me out.

It's all good. I am always in for a good stand idea! Have you had any experience with that company?

I've checked out a stand build from them through email, got a pretty quick response from anthony on a 66x30x32 stand for a bigger tank but have not bought anything.
