Good morning. I’ve had my 80 gallon Deep Blue rimless up and running for about 5 months and thinking about purchasing Pisces Exo style lid from Clear View Lids to protect my live stock from jumping out of tank onto floor. The Pisces is somewhat expensive but like the concept My existing clownfish jumped out last month and lucky I was close by to make the save so it got me to thinking about adding a lid especially I am wanting to get a wrasse pretty soon. Any rimless tank owners advise would be welcome in options .
Thanks!

I don’t know anything about the brand you’re referring to but Red Sea and Innovative Marine both sell a DIY kit for a mesh top. I would look at them, if for no other reason than to get ideas. Good luck!

Here is a screenshot of lid I am referring about. I haven’t looked at the DYI kits in detail but will give them a closer look over .
Thanks!

It looks like a DIY thing... similar to the Red Sea and IM. Do they ship it assembled?

Following. Ive got got the same tank and plan to add some wrasse as well. I was going to DIY one myself. I picked up an 8' x 3' corrugated clear plastic sheet that i had planned to use but honestly it was to flimsy. Then i had the idea of building it just like I would a screen door or window only using mesh. That way there could be a center support and possibly opening panels. I pretty much havent gone any further than brainstorm stage though. Im sure someone much smarter than i has plans for one already.

I have the same tank and have no cover with wrasses. So far have never had a jumper and I do not plan on covering. Just my input. on a different note though is that the brand that reef builders reviewed in one of his videos? If not I would check that one out on YouTube!

Thanks for the input. Like you ,I need to think more about it. My concern is functionality of trying to target feed corals once I have it fully stocked.
I like the the looks of the lid from clear view lids but don’t know if 2 or 300 in the end is worth it!

Here’s what a Red Sea cover looks like. I think the exoskeleton cover you posted looks a lot differet
Thanks for the picture . That looks pretty good. Yes the exo is different in some regard but your Red Sea looks very functional and nice . I will look into

They ship assembled I assume. They custom build the lids for your needs and tank type. They have 3 different models. I like them a lot but they are not too cheap but of course what is in this hobby. If my wife only knew lol!

They are custom built for your needs and type of tank. 3 different styles. Very nice but not cheap. Of course what is in this hobby if you do it right ! www.clearviewlids.com

IMO nothing other than coral, fish or equipment upgrades is worth that! In the next few days I'm going to go to home depot and see what i can cook up. If i can Make it work cheap and easy ill send you a step by step and material list.

I wish I could give insight to your issue but unfortunately I'm new to this. Tank looks awesome. Really digging your aqua scape. Was wondering if the lights you are using are the Hydra 26s? And if you are happy with them no matter the brand?

Curiously what are you using for flow?

I have the DIY screen, it was cheap, and it is cheap. I would spend the money on the "clearview lid" or there is also the "safe top lid" both will make it easier to feed, and clean. Both are things you will need to do often and it is a pain to lift the screen up and down for feedings and taking it off and on for maintenance and cleaning. If you plan to have this tank for a while and don't see upgrading then spend the money.

Here is the screen on my tank.

Thanks for reply. That’s good to know. I just recently joined y’all and haven’t had time to go through everything but I will research and see if that’s the same company.i just worry about these NC jumpers . I have had 1 clown jump out and 1 fire fish jump and rebound on the top edge of glass .
Thank you again !

From what I've seen, I recently was looking at lids for the same reason, they are similar in style the "safe top lids" seem to have more options and add ons. I believe the safe top lids are more expensive as well. I didn't want to spend the money which is why I went with the DIY screen. However, I will say that I am not handy and it did take a while for me to put together which added to my irritation with this top. Also if you know what you are doing you could probably add things like an opening for feedings to this. I'm just not capable of such things which is why I wish I had just spent the money.

I am running a 1050 current eflux dc return pump with 2 660 eflux wave pumps. I went ahead and bought the Bluetooth controller where I could control my pumps with my phone and it works great for me when I’m feeding .
