Hey all,

My name is Aaron, and I have a 80g deep blue rimless. The tank has been in the works since January, and has been wet since the beginning of may. I have a classic RO 110 skimmer, a sicce return pump, and 12 gallon refugium built into my sump. My sump is three camber, with skimmer chamber on left, return pump in the center, and the refugium on the left. I run filter socks that my grandma makes for me on both down lines. I have a pretty cheap, but effective fuge light I built out of parts from an ace hardware, and a bulb from lowes. I run a 48'' reefbreeder v2 light, I have an old school hydor korlia for my water movement at the moment, plan on upgrading at some point soon. do I got cheap and get two jebaos, buck up for the eco techs, or go with the newest tech and get the maxspect gyre? That is my current debate. I welcome you all to chime in.

I am planning on having a predominantly sps, lps, and zoa tank; so mix reef per se. As of now I have a few zoa frags, two sps frags, a lithophyllon with baby blue eyes, and a sweet acan frag. Joe Knows Reefs is my LFS, so I'm pretty lucky. It is such a great shop. I will post some pictures here soon, still trying to figure out the photobucket upload process on R2R. This is my third reef tank, and I have had about four or five freshwater setups. I had a 125g reef that was up for about 10 years, was broken down early this spring, it was bittersweet, the tank was far past its prime, and it needed to happen.

I have been on RC in the past, possibly because it was one of the only places around a decade ago, but I have been on R2R more and more lately and have really grow to respect and enjoy the community here.

Thanks,
Aaron

Thank you!! Those are JF insane rainbows.

Welcome Aaron to R2R, you've chosen wisely. This is a great place to read, learn and ask questions. There are plenty of people here to help out along the way. Let's see some pictures of your tank...we all love pictures.

And I must say, for my 4' 110, I love my gyre. I do feel I am lacking on variable chaotic flow only running one, but my coral and fish look to enjoy what I have. Mainly LPS, softie, and a few sps. I'm thinking of snagging some more sps here soon to try my hand as the tank is now more established and have a better understanding of them. I too shop at Joe's. We are very fortunate to have that as our LFS.

Welcome! To bad I just left Charleston. I just graduated from cofc and moved back to Ca. I truly miss the city and all it had to offer.

I had some close family friends that live in san clemente, the Giancola's. I have visited a couple times such a nice little town. I too used to live in california. I moved to charleston from San Jose.

Welcome! FINALLY!!!! Another Charlestonian!!

Yeah I love Charleston, I am actually in Mt. Pleasant. I live in the Old Village. Maybe we can swap some frags one day in the future.
And i do like the maxspect. Maybe I will get a echotech MP 10 for one side and a maxspect for the other.

Thank you!! Those are JF insane rainbows.
I'll be on the lookout for a plug of those.

I'm in west Ashley myself. Grew up on James Island and may as well say Folly Beach as much as I was there. Yeah man, I'd totally be down for a frag swap. Beautiful area you're in. My mom used to house sit and clean for a friend of hers out that way and my sister and I would always go and hang out when she was there. From the Chas area?

I am not from here, I moved for 2 years ago, and have loved it ever since. I moved here for work.
