85G - twin pump return or single pump? comments please.

I have watched the BRS video and they say... new setup go twin return pump.
I am away from home some long weekends, and a couple of weeks in summer, so I must take that in to account.
And living 1hr from work.

i have read heaps of threads and many options, being on a budget and having a small tank what are my options.
Tank height is 64inch - 1625mm (40inch stand and 24inch tank)

According the BRS vids - 3 x sump volume - add head pump pressure and go twice for allowances.
So that would be 200G per pump or 1000l/hr for each pump... or below 1000l/hr @ 2m
Add some safety for tee off for other stuff and 2 x DCP 4000 look like the go with room to turn them down.

Over flow is DIY - 24in - 600mm internal box... post to flow.. so flow will not be an issue to sump.

So long story short jump 6k or 2 x DCP 4000?

Personally I'd go with 2 pumps, of whatever you decide. Redundancy is key to long term success. I lost my last reef due to a failed return pump while I was on a camping trip 10 or so years ago. The knew tank will have 2 returns, 2 separate overflow areas, and 2 heaters. I am even considering 2 skimmers. One rated for the tank, and a second smaller one that would be a backup, just incase the pump fails on the main unit.

I like your thinking.. 2 pumps seem to make sense. After all they all fail eventually.
Might be 10 months or 10 years with a some...$$$$$$$$$

I do like the jump thing, but lets be honest its a return pump. Nothing sexy here to see.

OK do I buy direct from China?
DCP 2500 for example $74 or local $163
And i need 2..
Hard to send back to china but saving $$

Only reason I have used a 2500 example is what is local..
DCP4000 will be similar

I do agree, the Maxspect is a cool looking pump, but yeah, pumps can and do fail eventually.
