8ft and 310 gallons of Fun!!!

The process started months ago after selling my 120. The Tank is a 8ft 310 gallon. Tank was made by planet aquariums. I had a few hiccups along the way with then tank but its here now. I have made a few changes as I've set it up. Enjoy the pictures and I can't wait for this tank to come to life.

Then the water tanks came. two 100 gallon tanks all plumbed with a reeflo snapper and BRS 150 GPD ro/di.

Got the two 8x54 watt ATI sun powers hung above the tank.

Lights hanging above the tank are not wife approved so they came down and I had to get creative. This is what I came up with. It’s is a reef brite xr30 add on kit mounted to the RMS Rail with a Kessil a360x.

So I got a few hundred pounds of dry rock and sand.

This past weekend i plumbed the tank and got it running. Nothing to crazy at the moment just the basics. I will add equipment if needed. No need to buy something you don’t need. I also built a simple canopy and got the lights on the tank. I still need two more Kessils. Added bacteria and now the waiting begins.

Thanks for sharing your tank startup. I wish you all the very best with it. Regarding your BK...what model did you end-up getting? I’m asking because I‘m having a 350 gallon tank being built for me right now and still debating skimmers. Also your rock was from BRS? Reef Saver? How did you like working with the rock when you were doing your aquascaping? Thanks in advance for the info.

The skimmer is the double cone 250. It is a beast and I believe will be more than enough skimmer. It is absolutely silent.
The rock is from KP Aquatics. I loved the rock it is super easy to work with. I have used it in past tanks with great results. Do you have a build thread would love to see what you got going on.

The t5 are for sale. If I don’t sell them. I will use them for frag tanks.

Lol that sucks I am fan of t5 with the reef Brite. What she didn't like the look of them? Couldn't hide them with ur canopy?

Yeah didn’t like the look of them hanging. Also I technically don’t have room for a 300. I removed a 65” tv to put the tank in the living room. No one was impressed with the idea of not having a tv. So we got a smaller one and hung above the tank.

Tank build looks awesome but I'm not super keen on the idea of a TV above it, if that is whats going on there.

Well I have 3 islands. I’m going to attempt to have different zones for sps Lps and whatever’s else I might like. Another reason to go to the kessils. I can zone the tank and adjust lighting intensity for those zones. As far as fish I don’t know.

Yes that is a tv above the tank. I know that it can get ruined and if it does I’ll replace it no big deal. I can also use it to display the controller dashboard As well. I don’t have a controller yet haven’t decided what I’m going with yet.

Just a update of what the tank looks like today. With doors on and all. I will do a break down of all equipment soon. Equipment is always changing at this point.
