Well the tank has taken a step back. An unexpected but good move has caused me to slightly neglect the tank, which the coral didn't like. On the positive my new place is a lot bigger so lots of new options for the tank.

Here is a shot of the setup after the move (most of the livestock is in a holding tank)

Really cool nano setup, I like the display refugium as an additional touch! Following along

Wow, so you moved all of your tanks? What a job!

Yep it was a chore, the 25g planted cube got torn down and everyone is in a small 6g till I set it up again. The reef tank since it is small an modular got moved in sections. The nightmare was the 75g vivarium. It had to be moved intact due to everything growing in it.

Did I mention I moved into a 3500 sq ft penthouse condo. That is on the 4th floor (they are 20' floors) and has no elevator. I owe some friends a lot of beer for that move.

The new space is awesome though. I now have a rodi and water station (so psyched about that)

I got some nice 20g ace roto-mold poly tanks

That is fun. I once moved several tanks and animals to a five floor walk up in Manhattan. I was on the 4th floor as well. It included a 55 gallon reef and a 70 gallon tank housing a Red Tailed Boa Constrictor. Oh, and it was August and about 100 degrees. Beers were deployed.

Well the system is going to get a nuvo black 25 lagoon tied into it thanks to a great Black Friday deal. I’ve been wanting to add a second tank to the setup and was looking at this tank for a while so when I saw it for 50% off I pulled the trigger. I’m excited to double the water volume in the system now I have to decide on lighting, and flow for it. I already have an eclipse M overflow to put on it and I’ll drill some return holes.

What do people think of adding a gyre for flow I have mp10’s on my 8g and like them but I’d like to try out the gyre to see what I think.

Nice deal! I see gyres quite often on shallow tanks running horizontally. All the LFS near me seem to do this on their shallow displays as well,

I’m just wondering if a single gyre (and then of course what size) on the long end will be enough flow or if I’ll need one on both sides. I’m planning on more of a mixed reef for this tank so I don’t need quite the flow I have in my 8g. I’m also going to have a return on each side of the tank with the overflow in the middle so that will add a bit more flow.

FWIW, my AIO display is 27 x 15 x 17”. I have a single gyre running vertical with dual center returns and get good flow.

Why size gyre are you running

Whoops, the IceCap 1k Gyre. When I can hear it I know it needs a cleaning. Pretty silent otherwise. One thing about the 1k, you can cap one side and run it as a 6.7” single side gyre. Lots of options for a small tank.

So the 1k has enough flow in your tank for sps. The price is a lot better than other options out there
