About 8 months ago I downsized from a 75 to a 29 after a very heartbreaking system crash that was due to a mechanical failure (autotopoff). Anyway the 29 is doing pretty good and I'm thinking about upgrading to a larger tank. I really like the rimless look but management does not. We stopped in at that fish place in Lancaster pa where I was looking at the varies tanks. The 90 cube really caught my eye. My question is there any one here that is using this size style tank and what is the pros and cons of it. Would you recommend it to me or steer me away from it. Any way thanks in advance.

I have a 63G cube (30X30X16), which is just a shallower 90. Downside is that aquascaping is limited by the 30" max dimension (limits larger fish swimming space too). Upside I that you have a lot of surface area and floor space. Be sure to do a ghost or glass holes overflow, the in tank overflow really hurts real estate. Also, due to greater depth of field, anything but pristine water will show tint (make sure your skimmer I up to snuff). I do love the compact size, an dimensions.

thanks bad company i was wondering how the depth would effect the field of view yours got a nice look if u dont mind me asking what r u lighting with

Agreed with bad company ! Aqua scraping is tough because you have to focus your rock stack in about 30" of room either direction ! I have a 60 cube but honestly am very please with it IMO cubes look the cleanest there easy to manage good flow rates and easy to light up where as most people have long narrow tanks that can be difficult to get a nice flow pattern in and evenly distribute light ! Can't go wrong with a cube

Ok I have a 90g cube and really like it, granted I'm new to the hobby and it's just getting started. We didn't have that big of a problem with aqua scraping but we also wanted to go taller with our rocks vs wider. Sorry about the dark picture, it was right after our water change and before we attached our first frag :)

Exciting time for you. Looks nice/ very new as well. Did you seed the tank with a piece of live rock? Can't wait to see the tank after the rocks color up.

this is the 29 we have now. Huge step down from our 75 having some algae issues. Bad ro membrane. It's replaced now so we are clearing back up. It's been a tough go starting over but fun going threw all the cycles. And getting the new frags. Made a bunch of trips to aqua world in Washington pa.

Our LFS was against the live rock and they have guided us through the whole process, and since we didn't know anyone with a tank, we went with it. We have the live sand and have used several supplements. It's very new and the positive is our fish are doing well. We are going more for a fish tank with some coral vs mostly coral.

Our rock looked like yours 6 months ago. We put a small piece of live rock about 3x3x4. Very soon after the Marco rocks really came to life. I'm not saying to do it but it worked for us.

Nice tank! We had the horrible algae boom they told us was normal, man was it a pita! We have been pretty on top of keeping up with the water changes, maintenance, and frequent testing. We have had everything consistently check out across the board which is nice. We are trying to be patient and just have fun with it. I'll have to talk to the hubby about the live rock suggestion, he's more impatient than I am and keeps asking when it's going to turn colors lol I appreciate the help! We'll take all the help we can get especially going into this without knowing anyone :)
