I built an in the wall standard 90 gallon aquarium stand using the R.C diy stand and calculator. I would like to extend the width of it to 24 inches (presently is 18 inches) to accommodate an 120 gallon 48” x 24” x 24” aquarium. Do you think I need to make a complete aquarium stand frame as before just smaller in width, or what, suggestions welcomed.

Assuming that the tank is rimmed, I would just build an extension. Make the 2 outer legs the same way you did for the existing stand and then screw the 4 new short cross members into the existing frame. Hope that makes sense.

You can just extend it - think of it as a 48" x 6" stand attached to the original. But have a think about what limitations this might bring - will you be sacrificing open space inside the stand vs building new? What other improvements could you make if you just started fresh?

Id extend out a long as the bracing doesn't get in the way. If it does and you can take the old stand apart then its literally a couple of lengths of 2x4
