I'd get a cube if possible I think the dimensions on it are more livable for a yellow tang and more interesting for the viewer than the 4x2 90s. Fish will swim in all different directions as opposed to just left/right. Pick a spot in the house a cube would be cool, and then pick an overflow location that will keep it out of sight based on the position in the room you could place it. That's what I'd do anyway
Acrylic vs glass? Which would you recommend? Live far from WA thanksAcrylic or glass? If Acrylic check out Jason @ Clear Fabrications Inc in WA. Here is one of his tanks: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/rogueaquariums-600g-tank-build.654588/
You can also view mine was which also built by Clear Fabrications in my build thread link.
There are pros and cons to each. It's really about your preference. I went acrylic because it is optically more 'clear' than glass, lighter in weight, and I didn't want to worry about silicone seams not holding up over time. Scratches can be polished out of acrylic but are permanent on glass.Acrylic vs glass? Which would you recommend? Live far from WA thanks
There's a lot of factors that influence longevity, so it's hard to say. Those old Oceanic tanks were built to last. If longevity is really important to you, look for something that has a similar design. The popular rimless glass tanks where the front panel hangs off the stand is designed to fail. Stand design is arguably just as important. Stay away from fiber board that isn't properly supportedThanks. How long do tanks last before leak? I have a 25 year old oceanic and doing fine. Just need a larger tank for my tang
In case you weren't aware, Planet Aquariums in TX is some of the Old Oceanic people.Thank you. I do love my oceanic. It is just too small. It is made to last.
Love the new rimless design of tanks but have seen how leakage is a big problem.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Just went to their siteIn case you weren't aware, Planet Aquariums in TX is some of the Old Oceanic people.
