90 Size Upgrade - Need Advice

A 180 gallon tank would be easy to find with corner over flows. I agree that the corner over flows are not the best. They take up space and worst, they prevent you from putting a powerhead right where it can produce flow behind the rock work. The 180:has decent dimensions of 6’ by 2’ by 2’. The length is nice because it opens things up for many of the tangs.

Better would be more depth... 30” or 36”. And star fire or low iron glass is really nice also.

For used tanks, just inspect the seams and ask them to have to filled with water when you arrive. I have picked up a 55g from the curb as well as a 29g. Both are doing great. I ran a 20L for years with banged up (not separated) seams no issues.

These tanks are smaller though. It if holds water at the sellers, fill it up and put it outside or in a garage and let it sit for a few weeks to check it.

I really appreciate all the insight. I think I've decided on a tank (drum roll)... I found a brand new 125 on craigslist with a drilled e shops overflow (Link below). Im going with the 125 because I think a 180 is just to big at this point. I will likely get a 180 when I move in the next few years, but for the foreseeable future, a 125 will do the trick.

The reason the guy is selling is because the landlord saw him setting up the stand/ aquarium, and informed him a 125 is a no go. So i am purchasing the tank. I will heavily inspect it and fill it as per everyone suggestion. If all goes well, I will buy it this weekend and hopefully should have a build thread going soon!
