900ish gallon build 120x48x30

Curious, someday down the road I am planning on getting a large tank and wanted to implement a closed loop. I tried to find info on the design and was unable to. The suction side, do people just use one of the plastic screens on it? Does it typically need to be cleaned?

Something like this a few inches past the sand bed is what I’m using

I had a closed loop on my 225 with 3ea 2" drains with those exact strainers. I ran it for years and never had to clean them.

This is what I assumed that you would use but didn't know if it were the norm. I would like to bury these within my rockwork so that they were not visible. It would be nice if they didn't ever need to be cleaned.

some more progress today we put on the plywood insulation and drilled the holes for the close circuit pumps and returns . Tank is mounted . Took 10 of us to lift and slide it in place
