I have a 90 thats a half inch glass no center brace and i removed the black plastic rim. It feels very very strong, but i was wondering if anyone has ever done this before without and problems? Thanks

Definitely if not now then later it might burst I heard others glue the inner top corner sides with glass to reinforce a tank that is rimless not sure though try to google it.And I'm sure there has been post on this I'll try to look them up

I like adding the glass 45 degree corner braces. Measure empty, fill with water and see if it bows and how much.

I'd have to say not recomended. It may work at first, but over time I can't see it withstanding the pressure. I have an acrylic 90 and the bow is pretty hearty even with eurobrace.

Here is how much the glass flexes, notice the space in the broken plastic brace.

I can't see it too clearly, but if there's already some visible disbonding of the silicone, that's not good. Having removed the trim/brace, I'm afraid it will fail. Big gamble, anyway. [emoji20]

I am going to be resealing the tank next week. I might get some 45 braces cut. I like that idea

Maybe 1/2 inch, looked worse in person. Ended up replacing the tank that afternoon. It's a 90gal, unsure of the manufacturer. Someone gave me the tank and we broke that during the move. Once it was full of water, that flexing was pretty disturbing.

It's the center of the long axis that I think would be critical, not the corners. Just $0.02. Best of luck!

Tank will bow, then seams will separate, then you will be really ticked. May take a week, may take a few years but it will. I've seen it happen.

Top trim is used by manufacture to reduce glass thickness. All rimless tanks are made from thicker glass then rimmed. I assume your tank is 24" tall, so I think minimum 3/4" glass is necessary to go rimless. Corner 45 degrees pieces not going to help. You need brace in the middle of the tank
