This is my first saltwater tank and I am so excited to get into this hobby. Attached are some pics. I have a 30 gl Eshopps sump and refugium. Protein skimmer. T5, metal hailide, LEDs light system. I think I have a good start so far. Tank has been setup for 7 days so far. Looking forward to getting some fish in there.

patience on the fish! <grin> is that live rock in there? are you testing water parameters? you need to, at least the basics like ammonia and nitrate. you know it's gonna take awhile to cycle right? awhile as in weeks and weeks before you can start adding critters. I really like your aqua-scape! check out the thread on starting a saltwater tank here under stickies. you will have to go through a lovely period of algae blooming etc.
you have come to the right place, a wealth of great people and sound advice.
did I mention you will need patience?? :D

That is a mix of live rock and dry rock which I hope gets seeded by the live rock. I have already started my first water tests with an understanding that it might take a while and a couple cycles before I add any fish or critters. I'm completely going into this with a mindset of patience and not rushing things. I want to start it off the right way. I love all the info I am finding on this site! A wealth of knowledge!

you are doing everything exactly right!! this is seriously a great site. They even have a "reef squad" for fish emergencies, it's very cool. I did the same thing with our 125 gallon that we set up about 10 weeks ago - I used both live rock and dry rock, "dry" sand with a handful of live sand from LFS. Each piece of rock is developing at a different stage so it looks kind of strange but it will all even out eventually.
