If you had a 940 gallon fish only tank. Which fish would you get

Clown trigger would be on my list no matter what. Golden Puffer, a nice stingray, maybe a small shark, Queen Angel

I would get a big group of Anthias, talking about 50 or more ! Aquascape the tank with vertical drop off , make it look like in nature.

School of Chromis, large tangs, maybe large Angels, goldenback trigger, some stingrays, benthic carpet shark.

Both of which are extremely aggressive, and wouldn't allow for any other fish, but sound really cool overall!
Many eels really aren't that aggressive at all, especially if well fed and in 940g tank.

Groupers may limit the size of other fish, but beyond guarding their cave, won't cause much issue in a tank as large as this.

That's interesting, because I've read that many fanged eels won't differentiate much between who they bite. Blunt toothed eels might be fine, but I do worry about many fanged eels.

And, well, groupers will just swallow anything that they can fit through their mouth. Not too big of a problem except will not allow for much introduction of new fish.

The majority of eels available to hobbyists are blunt toothed. Issues arise due to their poor eyesight at feeding time, but they figure it out..

And planning around groupers isn't too difficult. Get them small and add towards the end of stocking.

Hmm. I'm more into shark keeping, so more of what I worry about is whether the eel will bite the shark. What I've read indicates that one of the two are bound to tear the other apart (though the sharks I'm involved with are cat/bamboo sharks, which are very peaceful sharks and are more likely to be the victim)

I haven't had the two together, but eels in reefs and FOWLRs haven't been much of an issue.

Actually if I had a tank that size there is only one eel I would get, a zebra. Passive and grows big. Most of the fang toothed are very aggressive, I wouldn't mix them unless I knew I could keep them fat and full every day.

We had a large snowflake eel at the store that bit and held on to the tail of a common sting ray. It scared the heck out of me and did some damage, but luckily the eel healed over time and I was able to sell him. The eel got moved to a different tank and sold. I never thought it would have been a problem having them together, but there ya go.

If it can get along in a Reef/FOWLR

huh. If you can keep them in reef/fowlr I should be able to keep them with sharks just fine.
