Great photos!!!
I have 4 kids, 3 who are adults and a 5 year old, along with an 18 month old granddaughter.
As my oldest 3 were growing up, I had many freshwater tanks. At one point, I had 19 tanks going. The kids grew up around aquariums and loved it. My son, who's now 21, was very involved in my tanks, maybe a bit too involved. One night, when he was about 4, I woke up to noise, in the middle of the night. When I went out into the living room, I found every cup, bowl, pot, pan, (if it'd hold water, it was included) scattered around the living room and kitchen, with a fish in each container...lol.
About a year later, we lived on a lake. I came home from work, to find my son at the end of our dock, with a couple aquarium nets in hand. I walked to the end of the dock to find several of my Cichlids swimming around, in the lake. He'd caught several dozen of my fish, took them to the lake and let them swim around. Then he'd caught most of them, putting them back in the tanks. In the process, he introduced a nasty parasite that attacked the eggs and fry, killing several batches of Cichlids. lol
Now, Madison is the only child at home, and she's 5. She's very involved in our reef tanks. She helps with tank maintenance. She knows the actual names of several fish and corals. She even has some of her own corals. Lately, she's been bugging us to set up a tank in her bedroom...lol.
Heck, my oldest is to blame, for me even getting into the saltwater side of this hobby. When she graduated high school, I asked her what she wanted, as a graduation present. She coulda asked for a used car, which is what I expected. Instead, she asked for "Nemo." Looking back at how deeply I'm involved in reefkeeping, since "Nemo," I wish she'd have asked for a used car...lol.
The moral of the story...
Keep your kids involved, as long as they're willing to be. My kids love it. Even as adults, they bring their friends over to see our tanks, and their friends love them! 2 of my kids live within 1/2 mile of me. They make great, and educated, tank sitters, when we're out of town.
