A couple of questions.

I have a couple of questions. One, can anyone suggest a pump, that would pump salt water from my 20G Brute to my tank for a water change? It is about 4 1/2 feet from the bottom of the brute to the top of the tank. Two, I would like to mark the inside of the brute in 1 gallon increments. If I were to use a permanent marker, would I risk contaminates entering the system? Do you have any safer suggestions to achieve this? Thanks.

How much you want to spend? If you only want to spend a couple hundred then I would get the chinese led fixtures on ebay. Two would work great.

Did you mean to rely to my thread. Because if you did I was asking about a water pump an not led's. Thanks though.

I do powered water changes with a cheap Ecoplus 396 and a 20ft piece of vinyl hose. All my tanks are marked in 5g increments with a Sharpie, and so are my Brutes. 1g increments are too fine for my purposes. I do 10g on my 90, 10g on my 60, and 5g on my 50. The Brute is 25g right at the shoulder mark above the handles.

Pump goes into tank with vinyl hose strung to sink. Pump down to mark on tank. Pump goes into Brute, hose to tank. Pump back up to full mark on tank. Three water changes takes 10-15 minutes total.

I do something similar to Mac above. Though I use two 44 gallon Brute's, one for fresh SW and one for old that I fill through a extra outlet controlled by a ball valve in my return plumbing with a barbed fitting for 3/4" id vinyl tubing. I open the water change valve and close off return to DT and then fill Brute to shoulder which is 30 gallons.
Turn off pump, reset valvethen roll it out of the way and roll in the other to pump in fresh SW mix with a cheap Hagen 801 PH that I nodded to fit the 3/4" tubing. I attached some 3/4" Loc- Line at end to hang over sumps Skimmer section and use this also to pump out the old water into the toilet.
