Recently my mp10 died and i have to send it in for repairs. Since its been gone, ive had a couple zoa and paly frags close up. Not all the zoas on the plug close, maybe half or 3/4 of them? i dont physically see any issue or parasites on them.

The only thing thats changed is i upped the salinity from 1.022 to 1.024 recently and took out a bunch of chaeto from my fuge.

anyone have any ideas what could be causing them to close? could it be the lowered flow affecting them? when the powerhead died my toadstool shed for the first time as well but it has now bounced back

1.022 is kind of low for a reef tank. Most people run 1.024-1.026.

Have you tested for ammonia since you removed the macroalgae from the refugium?

ammonia is showing a zero.

yea i hadnt tested the salinity in a while and noticed it dropped quite a bit so i upped it slightly, but would a change in salinity like that affect zoas this badly?
