A few Acropora

A few of the yellow/greens in the tank

My A. Aculeus, one of my most prized finds. Grown from a nub off a wild Australian piece years ago. So nice I have to have two.

Hands down the most nuclear green on any acro I’ve seen. Highlighter Humilis

Verx nice corals! I love wild sps.
The A. Clathrata is very similar to a wild colony I have. First is a pic several months ago. I fragged it into 3 nice frags and the base has grown back. It would be nice to know what it is, lol.

I would agree the jack’s have the polyps tucked in the coralites on the non axials just like that from what I remember. I had a wild colony I loved but lost it long ago. Surprised not more people have collected this coral species. The 30k is drool worthy. You have a superb eye for picking really nice acropora!
Yes, and I’ve seen the mother colony in photos and it has those traits of A. Jac. Definitely a unique piece. The 30k is a grail type coral for me, really any Lokani, but the 30k is nostalgic to me being that first SPS that really caught my eye in the LFS years ago, and turned my interests towards acropora. I try to shy away from the hype pieces and go for unique colors/growth structures.

That’s a nice looking coral. Looks more like the Indonesian Microclados variants, imo. Clathrata seems to grow more of a dense table form from what I’ve seen.

Here’s a pic of my Clathrata from a side angle

Thanks as it was an indo wild mini colony when I got it.

Is it true that wild colonies get darken then take a while to regain color? Is there any articles claim about that. I have many wild colonies, some gain color very soon but some still brown after months

My expeience also with wild ones.
Some color up some dont. Most give up way to soon, imo.

Wouldn’t say it’s true for all, but generally there is a transition period with wild or mariculture corals becoming acclimated to tank life. It’s been my observation that with most wild/Mari the nice colors come with new growth. Some are just stubborn, I currently have a few frags from wild colonies going on 3yrs that are still duds or just waking up. This Spathulata was a nub for 2.5yrs did absolutely nothing, and after a tank transfer something sparked in it to start growing. It went from a 1” frag to this in about 8-9 months

If you know it was a nice piece or has potential don’t give up on them, lol.

New growth in tank have total different in color and shape. IMO, wild and mariculture will color up faster from small frag cut. I have some big colonies take very long time to recover

Anyway, do you know what species are these?

I agree, IME frags of wild/Mari tend to do better than colonies.

Those are some nice looking pieces. Hard to say without more fresh growth. I’d take a look at A. Nasuta, A. Divaricata, and A. Natalensis has similarities of each of those

Closer look at the Rainbow Spath, going on 6 years in captivity and just keeps getting better. Something about the perfectly uniform corallites, metallic sheen, and gradual shift in colors make Spathulata an absolutely must have for me.

The subtle color shifts, like they were blending, a true rainbow, in the trade, but like a rainbow for real...

I’ll have to get you a frag of this one soon. When it takes off it doesn’t slow down

Dude, take a pic of Hellflower, curious to see how that mini colony doing, lol. She's special :)
Hellflower is going through acclimation phase and has lighten up a lot.. possibly mixture of my lower nutrients and getting hammered by light. I think in a month it will be ready for a post! That sex feast though.. might be beating out my confetti for hot pink in the tank
