Hey all!
I was at the LFS a few days ago and saw some dendros. Well, being the impulse buyer that I can be sometimes I picked one up. Any tips anyone has on here about their care? I know feed them often, but I am mainly concerned about lighting and flow. As of right now it is sitting about 8 inches under PC's...

I am curiuos as well because mine opened up the first day and its been two weeks and it hasnt opened since. I have tried to feed it and even looked when lights are out and it doesnt open. I have moved it to other areas in the tank but it wont budge. Dont mean to hijack but hopefully these will help you as well.

Non PHotsythetis coral, so doesn't need light moderate flow IMO, but to get them to open turn off the flow in the tank and set some food right on the top ofthem and wait basically. Try differatnt stuff to induce them to open and try it during the day at the m same time everyday, basically it has to be a learned proccess to open to your food stilmulii. Trained if you will, if they are wild from an LFS it is going to take longer to train them that if they were bought from another reefer, cause usually they have alread done the work to teach him for ya. Even mine took a day or so to be happy and now Itry to get to him the same time every day doesn't always happen, but he open now when I feeed. They are a lot slowwer to open than like a Lord or other LPS so be patianent.

I am not having a problem with it not opening up, I was just wondering what has worked best for others that are having success with them. Basically where they have it placed in their tanks? Thanks

As posted above lighting does not matter. I have mine on the bottom of my 58G in medium flow. It will open 1/2 way when I feed my fish and then all of the way when fed. After feeding it comes out in full glory. I feed mine 3x per week and in 4 months I have 2 baby polyps.

My dendro I leave on the sand bed in my 15 gallon. I have PC's and mine stay open pretty much all day. I feed it mysis, squid and chopped shrimp about 3-4 times a week. Only had them for about a month now. Moderate flow to make the tentacles move so food can be caught.
