A few hitchickers - ID ?

I have a few thing i would like to ID in my Qt tank if anyone can please help!

The long string on this one

The white mass of tubes

And the black - i assume sponge - is it reef safe?

Vermentid snail, sponge and sponge... Never had a problem with sponges but I hear they tend to grow over corals and block light... Up to you if you want scrape them off or not... The snail can become a pain also but doesn't really hurt anything... Hth

OK I wasn't sure if that was a Vermentid snail !

I had black encrusting sponges become an issue in one of my systems. They grow pretty slowly, but if its the same species as mine, can sting hands and other corals when your trying to remove them. The ones I had grow in long white strands until they find a lighted rock surface and then flatten out and encrust.

I've never had trouble with sponges over growing anything. When they turn up I usually turn the rock over so the sponge is facing away from the light since they don't like it and I like them. I had some of the black sponge over grow some cyano (Thanks sponge!) once and when I decided to remove it peeled right off the rock kind of like solid tar. I seem to have luck with pests killing pests since the cyano that was over grown had choked out an aiptasia before the black sponge took it out. I have a friend that had the black sponge start growing over his coral until he removed it.[h=3][/h]

Ok I will watch the sponge but for now it is in my QT so not that big a deal!!!

Nice to have pest killing off pests lol
