A few nem questions

Hey guys! So today I’m buying my first bubble tip and also possibly a rock flower nem. I have a 15 gallon biocube. It has been set up or six years and just about keeps itself clean. It has a pair of clowns (that’s why I want the bubble tip). So my question is weather or not the lighting is correct. It has one white fluorescent 24w and one blue antenic
24w. And any extra care or hosting tips would be great.

That might be enough for a bubble tip if you feed it I don’t have much experience with rock flowers but bubble tips can do good in som pretty low lighting worst case you can get him some extra spot lighting if he doesn’t do good

When I had the stock 50/50 PC lighting on my first tank ever 16 years ago( 24 gallon nano cube,, still have the tank running, but not the same lighting) bubble tips did very well under Compact fluorescent lighting. You may not get the crazy colors you see under actinic/UV LED's but the lighting is still fine. People kept nems under normal VFO bulbs for years, Calfo made a massive amount of nems under regular fluorescent lighting. I also agree feeding is beneficial, a couple times a week is good.

Wild clownfish host faster. It’s really up to the clown fish. Some people use a large plastic tube, to confine the nem and clown till they pair up. I always gave it time and after a week or two the nem would host. Some clowns will find a host other than a nem. One of mine fancied the overflow and powerhead.

Growth can be faster with feeding, but not always. As for them being hosted by the nem (the nem is the host) In a 15 gallon they'll be close enough to the nem. It can just take time sometimes.

Update: I bought a green bubble tip!!! It was kinda small, but very pretty. They had a larger green long tentacled nem but it wasn’t attached to anything , so I avoided it.

clowns are weird these days as they are captive bred now. That means they'll host in literally anything. So if you want them to host in any kind of nem for that matter, not just bubble tips, just pray that they will lol. I've heard that you can put a picture of them hosting on the glass for a couple days and that could help but i cant say. But clowns are clowns so they'll host in what they want.
