A lot of spot feeding is actually a waste kinda of.
Agree with this.

It makes sense to spot feed a fish which can immediately eat what you put in front of it. I makes sense to spot feed an anemone since food can stick to it. For filter feeders, they can't consume food quickly so it just gives them a moment of high density nutrients they really can't absorb quickly before it is dispersed.

Depends on the filter feeder too. A sun coral and gorg. Yes. Blasted with the turkey Baster the Scallop Gets mad. Lol.

I was at Aquacon this past weekend here and ended up getting stuck with a sea cucumber. It's the plain kind (all black). I'm assuming that this is also another kind of filter feeder? Aside from the risk of it dying, how should I feed it? Similarly to a flame scallop?

Awesome thanks for that salty!

It's great to hear success stories with hard to keep species and how it's done.

So do you think the key to success with flame scallops is the diversity of microorganisms from the dsb's or the type of feeding your doing. I'm sure its a combo of both but what do you think is more important?

Wondering for those (like me) with just a cheato fuge and no dsb and pretty clean water, if spot feeding with some concentrated good food mix like phyto feast live with oyster feast every day or every other day might lead to long term success.

Our ridge-back clams, thorny oysters and jewel box clams get Phyto-Feast and Oyster-Feast Monday through Friday in our office tank. We had a flame for 2 years before it died. That's a pretty good lifespan considering the experiences of most hobbyists.
