My toadstools are on the sand bed. They seem plenty happy.

Toadstools like moderate to a little heavier flow and can take several days to adjust to new placement. If they have developed a waxy surface appearance they have to shed that layer before they will open again. Sacrophytons develop that layer to keep algae and detritus from accumulating, higher flow sometimes facilitates this removal of the waxy coating. Sacrophytons as mentioned above do not like to be messed with and may take a while to reopen.

I agree with Tahoe. Pick a spot to place it, and leave it alone. The more you mess with it, the longer it will take beofre it opens. And once placed it may take several days to a week or so before you see it do anything. As long as you do not see it start to melt, then he's fine, just acclimating.
