I have one. From the get go I wanted a goby of some kind. I like fish that have a job. I haven't been able to get one because I haven't had a lid on my tank and didn't want one to jump out. I finally got my lid situation taken care of and off to the store I went.I bought a beautiful diamond watchman goby. I was super excited. Got him in the DT two weeks ago. He seemed totally cool. Going around scooping sand. Did some digging in a couple of spots and settled in under a big rock formation right in the middle. Since then I've seen him out sifting sand once and he came out one more time for just a second. I can see him through the glass bottom of the tank moving around and he pops his head out and eats pellets. I'm just ticked off. My most anticipated addition has turned out to be a reclusive cave dweller that I never see. Not to mention, he's not doing his job, my sand is looking like crap. My wife has never seen him lol.

Pajama cardinals.

I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone thought "oh that's cool I want to keep those. I'm going to take it out of the ocean and NOT eat it."

I know kind of harsh. But seriously it's ugly and does nothing, they barely even react when you feed them!
They're boring, plain, ugly fish that should never have been kept.

Cardinal fish. I have seen many fishes, but couldn't hate them., including filefish. Tough to not fall in love with most. But man, cardinal as just lazy, boring looking :-( . I dont like them

Zebra damsels. Back when I had a 29g biocube, I added a Royal Gramma a few weeks after receiving the damsel as a gift. The Damsel ate the Gramma alive. Poor thing was missing most of its back half and was still trying to swim. :(

I'm really sorry that happened to you.

Damsels in smaller tanks can be absolutely vicious. Depending on the species it isn't until very large tanks that they become moderately tolerable.
They're complete snots.
I hate loving them.

Yeah, later on when I had a 65 gallon, I had a school of 4 chromis that were well behaved... they really only picked on themselves, but left the other fish alone! I might try a damsel again at some point, but probably not anytime soon. :( Hardest fish to catch and bring back to the LFS too...

Right now I've got two green chromis, a yellow damsel and a tomatoe clown in a 75 gallon. I'm not sure any of them would tolerate any new fish.

Think this counts as a predator tank?

I know and I agree I wish I never got three of them... I wonder what their lifespan is??!

I hate all shrimp - they molt and make a mess in the tank - so sick of having to remove molts!!! Annoying and gross!!! I'm glad mine died -
I know that's not nice but I will never own another one!

Definitely have to say my old sixline. I'll admit, when I got him I didn't do much research and pulled the trigger mainly as an attempt to clear my tank of spirorbis (it actually worked thankfully). I just had no clue he was going to be such a butthead. Serves me right for buying before researching.

Is he being picked on are bullied by other tank mates? I ask because I had a diamond goby do the same thing. One day he stopped coming out in the open and just stayed hidden. I found out later (to late) he was being nipped at by my clowns. He was a model citizen for over a year I had him and came to work everyday. I believe the clowns were getting ready to mate and got territorial.

I haven't seen anything like that going on but it doesn't mean it isn't happening. The few times I've seen him his fins are all intact, no evidence of nipping. Hes also easily twice the size of the clowns. That might not matter though.

100% agree with the people who said 'pajama cardinals'. They're ugly and don't look interesting, and people who have actually kept them say they aren't. The ones I've seen in videos / LFS just sit there and don't interact with anything or swim around. Like they have no personality.

I've got a Bangai cardinal that I thought would be boring but he's pretty cool. He seems to explore the rockwork more than the others. He sleeps with the two clownfish. Maybe he thinks he's a clown.

I purchased a pseudochromis because he was beautiful and I wanted a fish that would be ok with my mandarin and wouldn't hide all the time. Well big mistake. He was so mean. Didn't bother my mandarin but killed my black ray goby and attacked my watchman goby I caught him ( took forever even in my little 30 gal tank) and donated him to the tank at my work. I learned to do a lot of research and ask lots of questions on here before I add any more fish. Btw my goby was super shy until I purchased a pistol shrimp. Goby comes out a lot more now. It's so much fun watching the two of them dig tunnels all over my tank. My pistol shrimp loves to drag my small hermit crabs and empty shells into his caves. Lol
