A fishes nature

I am considering adding a valentini puffer to my mixed reef tank. I have reach much of the threads addressing this idea.
My question is, can you overcome, or minimize, a fishes tendency by substituting what it wants. For example, can I add this fish and modify it's behavior by feeding it clams etc, so it may leave my CUC alone.
Or is this another exercise in what one should not do.

It’s really based on luck of the draw - although feeding well and often can help. Supposedly the smaller leopard Toby’s are a bit safer than most with corals and inverts.
