I bought a small frag of Bambams a few months ago, they were mounted to a small round frag plug and there were about 10 polyps on the plug. The polyps started growing fast and now the top of the plug is covered with I would say 30 or more polyps. The next step for these polyps is to start growing down the side of the F plug and onto the live rock that I have the plug mounted to. My question is this: the polyps were really growing fast up to the point where the F plug was covered, now they have really slowed down and don't seem to want to grow down the side of the plug and onto the LR. Should I start moving the polyps off the plug and onto the LR myself or just leave them alone and let them move off the plug themselfs? Other than the growth slowing down, they look great

Some types of zoas grow downward very slowly. Either way is fine. With time they should grow on to the rock. You could frag a cople of polyps off the side and glue them to the rock to get it going faster.

Thanks for your reply, I was wondering why they stopped pumping out the babies as soon as they hit the frag edge. I really wanted to let them do their own thing and spread by themselfs, so I think I will give them somemore time.

hey. i'm glad the bambams are/were growing great for you. i think all corals have growth spurts and then stop and then start up again. i think sooner or later they will grow down the stem. i have a lot of zoos that do that. give it some time.
