Hello My name is Matt. I have been into freshwater for about 4 years now. I have a 180 gallon FW with large predators, a 75 gallon FW planted, and a 5.5 gallon FW plated at work. A few months ago I saw an add for a 2 year established 12 gallon nano for sale. I thought, why not, lets take the dive and try saltwater out. I had it for all of 3 weeks and decided i wanted at least a little bigger. I saw an add for a used red sea 130 and went and got it. Its been up and running with the established, rock and filter media for about 2 months and I am enjoying saltwater more than i thought i would. The 34 gallon has 2 ocelaris clowns, 2 banggai cardinals, lawnmower blenny, pistol shrimp, cleaner shrimp and CUC. Corals consist of green and pink polyps, GSP, couple kinds of Zoa, Candy cane, a torch colony, and a tiny toadstool.

I built a new acrylic tank for my salamanders and have already decided to convert their 54 gallon aquarium into a saltwater. Anyways, thanks for the add and look forward to learning.

nice scaping.

Matt, welcome to R2R and the hobby.

Welcome. Your fresh water experience will help a lot for saltwater. Once you go salt you’ll never go back. Welcome to the addiction.

It helps for sure, but the best way I've seen it put is "its the same game, but a whole different league"

Welcome to R2R :) Thanks for joining! I started with freshwater as well, had a 46g planted bowfront for a long time. Once I started scuba diving I had to go salt...

Thanks I just got the bug to try it and it didn't take long to figure out how much fun it could be.

Thanks everybody for the welcome. In the freshwater forum i'm in they have journals, where you post your progress on a build. Where would I post something like that here? I think it would be fun to do that for the 54 gallon I'm fixing to start on.

You can start a build thread in member tanks. Looking forward to checking out the details!

Welcome to R2R and to the salty side. You can start a build thread...the link is in my signature block below. It's a great way to share your journey and look back on your own progress.

Thanks, with the holidays I'll have some free time this weekend and I'll start that. Needing some advice on a couple of things anyways.

Side note, how long to sign up to become a partner member?
