I always wanted to start this thread and discuss the thoughts about the flow rate for better and healthy reef growth and colors....
How big is ur tank and how many times u like to turn ur reefs water?

220g and I run the Reeflo Snapper/Dart hybrid with the Snapper impeller so I get around 1900gph out of it. I did run the Dart impeller but the flow was too intense and I had to bleed most of it back to the sump. For additional flow I have two VOrtech MP60s.

75G tank with 30G sump half full = ~85G after displacement.

2- Tunze 6045
2- K Nano 425
1- K 1400
1- K 1050
Crappy Deep Blue Return pushing ~ 400

Total flow: 5900
5900/85=69.41 turnover rate per hour

I have a 220. 75 gallon sump. Using an atb flowstar 1500. Two mp60's for movement. I feel that by not pushing a ton of water through my sump that my slimmer is getting more of a chance to catch detritus and fish waste. Plus it also allows for bubbles to disperse more effiecently.

I wouldn't go less than 50 but I push more at 100 times myself..

This would work great on SPS tanks but if you have an LPS tank and you are trying to push 50x turn over it may be a little hard. Right now I am pushing around 35x and it still blows my LPS all over the place, I can't run my MP60s more than 50%
