Hi all,
I'm having 72g seahorses tank with 5 seahorses and about a week or two ago I noticed a small hole in one of the horses body, it looks like the hole getting bigger.
the horse is eating and swimming normal.
if someone know what is it and what is the treatment for it will be appreciated.
pictures attached

Thank you and have a great weekend,
Simon

That looks bacterial, even if secondary. I’m not that experienced with seahorses but vibrio in fish can manifest itself that way. Any other smaller lesions?

Any changes to your water quality or new additions?

Furan 2 may help or if you can get terramycin.

It does appear to be bacterial to me. I don't know what meds are suitable for seahorses. I am all fish. Let's see what the others have to say.

OK so I bought Furan 2 and I took out the horse and placed him in old 14g tank that I start to run and use as a "hospital tank",
I going to use the furan in the 14g tank, all the other sea horse that I have looks fine, you think I should place all of them in the hospital tank for the treatment? the fact that they been together in the tank doesn't means that they got infected too?

Jump on the seahorse.org forum to read more information. It's pretty much dead, but if you change the settings so you can see old posts instead of just those in the past month you'll find loads of info. It used to be my go to years ago.

You don’t need to treat all unless you notice similar symptoms. Whatever caused it appears localized, but make sure to observe.

thank you all for you help,
today,72 hours after I started the treatment the sea horse die, in the first 24 hours he was still eating but a day after he refused to eat and look like breathing heavily, this morning I found him dead.
looks like the "hole" in his body start to recover however it was too strong for him.
Thank you all for your help

I'm sorry for your loss :(
