so i have this banded coral shrimp. i thought he was awesome at first, but hes the biggest !@#$ jerk.

he has zero fear of anything. chased after both triggers and and an eel. the most recent thing is he snipped off the tail of my pipe fish :(
1. will the tail grow back?
2. what kind of CUC can i put into the tank with this? he harasses everything. unfortunately since hes the oldest member of the tank the wife wants to keep him.

Maybe on the tail. It depends on where exactly the damage is. As far as cuc... anything you don't mind him possibly killing or killing him.

i certainly hope it does, feel bad for the little guy.
side note. the triggers and eel are gone, i don't have a pipe fish in a tank with those.

I have a coral banded my self. She's the same a**hat you have experience as well. I don't mind her she was the first for me as well. I have thought a couple of times of putting her on timeout in my sump but I haven't reached that point yet. Maybe your wife will be ok with that? :)

i do love it, tough as nails napoleon syndrome. but i hate seeing other things get beat up on.
yeah she might. might also "disappear" one day and magically appear in the sump haha. ;)

Pipefish and Coral Banded Shrimp are a no no.:) The shrimp will only become more aggressive as time goes by. Maybe the triggers will get bigger soon to take care of your problem. Then you can tell the wife, OOPS!!;)

I had one when I started with saltwater, that stupid thing ripped apart a leather coral, and went after my firefish. It didn't matter how much a fed it.

Coral bandeds seem to be very "individual personality" critters. I have a friend who has one that has always been a model citizen, in a peacful tank that eats the food fed to the tank. That seems to be the rare exception, though. I have heard far more tales of Coral Bandeds that become terrors, and aren't afraid of anything....

Although I always think about that "True facts about the Mantis Shrimp" Youtube video where the Coral Banded shrimp pulls off its own arm to feed to the mantis shrimp to get away...

I have 2 that were model citizens one in a 20 with 4 fish and a tube worm years ago and one in a 90. I do not know why they were well behaved.
