So.. I've had my tank running for around two weeks. I've bought a few pieces of coral .. leather and flowerpots. I'm wondering if these will survive. I've been told by the guys at the local shop that there's no chance they will survive, but heard from many other sources that they should be fine..

If they are in danger how can I help oritecp them from doom.

Thanks for all advice!

I'll ask it...what are your parameters? Tank pics?

Very new to marine aquariums how would I know if the ammonia cycle would be completr
The guide linked above by SPR1968 above will certainly help you, but if you didn't do something special to cycle the tank and it's only 2 weeks old it isn't cycled. I'd get those coral's a new home

Those clownfish are going to suffer once the ammonia levels increase, if they haven’t increased already. They will not tolerate a cycling tank. Unless you’ve added Biospira, take the clowns and coral out and bring back to your LFS. Not sure why they sold you all that with a tank that’s still cycling.
Please read up on the process of how to cycle a saltwater fish tank. Good luck.

Not to mention if you have not crossed your p's and q's properly. Get the poor clown out as well. Do you have test kits to test the water? IF not take a water sample to your LFS get the numbers and come back to us.

Maybe someone around you with an established reef can help you out and house your inhabitants before they perish.

Did you get live rock and fresh sand from a bag? Or did you buy a setup that was on display that had everything already in it and you had them pack it up and sent to house?

You need to find out if your LFS sells any "bacteria in a bottle" product to cycle the tank quicker making a smoother process.

If not at LFS, buy online!!

Names to look for:
Dr Tims One & Only
Fritz TurboStart
API Quickstart
Instant Ocean Bio-Spira

FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS and DOSING AMTS TO THE "T"

one bottle should save your bacon if used properly

I rushed on my first tank and killed my pair of snowflake clowns. I’m almost certain the tank isn’t cycled yet and you should find someone to bring them immediately.
