Shoulder Deep in Saltwater.......Again
A little while back I decided to culture my own copepods. I watched some videos, read a bunch of articles and it seemed easy enough. My first culture went off without a hitch. Into the second split my garage got too hot and I lost pretty much everything. I took a break until a couple months ago and gave it another shot (this time under my stand where temps are a little more stable). I started with fresh saltwater (35ppt) a fresh culture of Tisbe pods and some OceanMagik from AlgaeBarn. Within a couple days my slightly green tinged water became very green and I don't see very many pods anywhere... Thinking it just needed a little time, I left it for a week...still no pods and still green water. I decided I must have done something wrong so I dumped the whole thing and started completely over feeding a little less to start off. Within a week, Same result! Green water and no apparent pods. I am using a rigid airline with 3-5 bubbles per second and a lamp under my stand for ambient light (about 6 hours per day). I'm seeing people with some insane cultures so clearly I'm missing something. Any Thoughts? TIA!!
