I got a couple chalice frags today and one is doing great, but the other had a small piece of skeleton exposed when I took it out the bag, I didn't notice until after everything was acclimated that some more of the tissue has receded. I moved it to an area of even lower light to see if that helps, but is there anything I can do as far as a lugols dip or anything? Thanks for the help. I haven't checked my params this week, but last week they were as follows
Alk 8
Ph about 7.9 or so
Ca 450
Mg 1230
Temp runs a little higher than I like, but working on that issue around 81 avg
salinity stays around 1.024-.025

Thanks

Ricky

I've had new ones with a piece recede cause it was either in the Sand or leaning on a rock or when I move it my finger irritated it . what I did was move it to a low flow low light spot for a few weeks and it healed over, as far as dips I've never done this to aid in the recovery of a chalice but I know Vitamin C suppose to speed the growth of flesh and help the corals immune system, so I'd check that out

I have it in a low flow/low light area right now, but I think it's a goner. I just looked at it and it had more tissue recession and I found a hermit crab on top of it. I'm sure than irratated it even more, that crab has been banished to the sump now b/c I have had other problems with him.

Thanks for the info

Ricky

I would say you are doing everything you can. Don't give up though, I've had some chalices come back after I was ready to throw the plug out.

I keep checking on it, lights are out now, but all thats left is the eye really, and there are pieces of the spiny skeleton showing through. I checked my params tonight, and they are higher than last I checked.
Mg is 1340
Alk is 7
Ca is 460
pH I couldn't get a good reading, somewhere around 8 roughly
salinty is at 1.025

I dosed a little for alk tonight and am going to do a water change tomorrow......so we'll see
