I'm planning to add more fish to my tank in the near future, but I'm having trouble deciding what fish/invertebrates to add. My tanks a 36g bow front with 1 diamondback goby, 2 clownfish, 2 peppermint shrimp, and 2 black cardinalfish. These are some of the fish I had in mind
3 bangai cardinals, 1 tailspot blenny, 1 flame angel, 2 royal grammas, 1 neon goby, 1 yellow/purple tang, 1 lawnmower blenny, 1 brittle or sand sifter starfish, and 5 hermit crabs.
I heard that these are the slowest growing tangs in the family and in that time I would have a better size tank for it. These fish are just ideas and I'm not going to put all of them into the tank, knowing that there won't be enough room for them.

3 bangaii will become either 2 or 1 and I'm not sure how well they play with other cardinal species.

The tailspot is a good choice.

Flame angel would be a tight squeeze in a 36 bowfront, they also can/will nip at coral.

Unless you have a guaranteed pair of royal grammas, you are most likely going to end with 1.

Neon goby should be fine, may need to check compatibility with the other goby.

So now for the hard bit, no tang in a 36 bowfront please. I know you say you are planning to upgrade, but plans change. Unless you have the properly sized tank in your house and are getting ready to cycle it, you should not buy one.

lawnmower blenny is also an okay choice, probably not with another blenny and if you can keep him fat with algae he should be fine.

I have a 40 breeder with 1 oc clown, 2 bengai cardinals, 1 bicolor blenny, and 1 yellow watchman goby, along with a pistol shrimp and cleaner shrimp, plus some various cuc. The bicolor blenny hangs out perched in his cave on top of the rocks and watchman goby and pistol shrimp hang out in their hole under the rocks.

I've debated about adding something else, but I'm too afraid to try and angel due to the coral nipping issue... I used to have an orchid dottyback, who unfortunately died, but he would hide under a rock and dash anything to walk by his cave (mostly a unsuspecting hermit crab). I've heard that lawnmower blenny can be similarly territorial, but have never owned one.
