I have this SPS coral that was doing fine, and now its dying slowly.... It was doing so good and its one of my sps's that was growing faster than the others.. You can see some air bubble on some parts where is dying...
CA is at 400
ALK 10
Salinity 1.025
Nitrate .5
Phosphate .01
Could it be not enough lights?
Bulbs are 3months old.
ATI 6x24w
8 inches above the water...
Its not dying from the tips.. Its dying from the middle, some parts are dying from one side only.

Do you have any Euphillia species in that tank that could be sending out sweeper tentacles or releasing polyps?

It looks like an Acropora austera, and a nice one. It has more than that one area that is missing tissue?
You have an ATI fixture with 3 month old bulbs I really doubt it's not getting enough light, the coral has great color.
What test kit are you using, have you double checked those results?
Do you have any coral nippers in the tank?
Is it possible that salt creep pieces have fallen on it?

I do have both of them. They are on the botton on the other side of the tank. Not even close to any of my sps's.

Euphilla drop polyps and the polyps float around in the water column, then settle or stick on corals....I'm not saying that's exactly what has transpired, just a plausible guess.

For treatment, if it's possible to remove the coral, I would dip it in a lugols/iodide dip and then spread superglue on the exposed skeleton.

Yes a couple areas. Im using elos test kit. I triple cheked. Never seen anything nipping the corals. No salt pieces fell on it.

Its possible but the coral will break a part. Its incrusted on the rock really good.

Use a turkey baster and see what blows off like any AEFW. If it continues I would remove it and dip it even though it's encrusted to the rock. You should be able to get it off in one piece.
A lot of times you do not see fish nipping.

The usual suspects, any Asterina hanging around, any Limpets.

It's got to be chemistry, a pest/invert or a fish. It does not look like any corals near by are stinging it.

I do have asterinas but i never saw them on top of any corals. No corals stinging. I will keep my eye on it.
