a live rock ??????

I know it not a chem question .but I purchased some nice coralline covered rock today from local dealer.i noticed that a lot of the chunks were only half under water in their tank.any input

well it might have to be cycled.I wouldn't add livestock for a couple weeks and check the parameters often,let the bacterial do its magic..

Not like the top inch.but there are alive starfish and stuff in them

It should be fine. These rocks are like sponges soaking up water.
