Many years ago I discussed the possibility of setting up a 55 gallon salt water tank. Wasnt meant to be. Time, money and technology would not allow it.
Fast forward many years and I introduce her to the Coralife 32 gallon biocube. She agrees it is time. $300 for tank and stand at LFS. ADD 30 lbs live rock, Hydor 1350 powerhead, 100 watt heater, 20 lbs live sand, Coralife skimmer (chamber 1), purigen, chemipure, electronic thermometer, red sea test kits (kathi hates this part, but does it), pillow batting and assorted corals, hermit crabs and snails. That was 6 weeks ago. Tank is cycled. Corals are thriving and Kathi and I are hooked. Cant believe how much relaxing time we spend staring into this tank.
The Hydor 1350 seems like it may be too much, seeing bare glass in spots on the bottom of the tank. Thinking about adding two smaller power heads with switch to create more wave action in the tank vs the current vortex.
