Got the bug again after stopping over a buddy's house a few weeks ago. Couldn't believe how beautiful his tank was and what he was able to keep now. I was amazed by all the advancements in the hobby! My first saltwater aquarium was in the mid 90's. It was just a fish only setup in a 120 gallon acrylic tank I bought out of the pet section in the local newspaper. I wanted more at the time, but I didn't make very much money back then. After enjoying my tank for almost 2 years, it eventually went south on me. I ended up losing everything in the tank because my heater stuck on and cooked everything in it. After that disaster, It left a real bad taste in my mouth and decided that would be the end of this hobby for me.

Until now.

While surfing the internet and reading and watching everything I could get my hands on, I quickly formed an idea what I wanted for next aquarium adventure. I love the idea of All In One Aquariums. The the simplicity of them, the aesthetics and how AIO's aren't cluttered up with equipment everywhere. I took a big step forward and pulled the trigger on a tank while the Presidents day sales were happening. and ordered a Innovative Marine Fusion 40 AIO! The tank arrived today, and unfortunately it cam in broken. So...since I have another week, that gives me time to do a little more research on what I want to do for lighting, heaters ATO's etc. Can't believe how much has changed in the 20 years I've away.....

Welcome!

I'm in a similar situation. Had a 75g FOWLR back in the early 90's. Had just started up into the corals when the whole neighborhood flooded. That ended my reefing hobby.
Now I'm saving up for a new setup. No idea how big I want to go yet lol.

Welcome to the club!!

Thanks Maddy!

Sorry to hear that Munchies. Are you thinking about a AIO tank? Or something with a sump???

Welcome to R2R

Thank You LMR2015!

Welcome to R2R! Yes allot has changed but if you have patience and read up on all you can manage then you will be alright.

Welcome back and welcome to Reef2Reef! Alot has changed since then, but alot is the same! Stability is still king! But now Alkalinity management is the real name of the game!

Thank you Rick, It's good to be back! I've been logging some serious hours on Reef2Reef the last week or so!

Since you cooked your fish last time...you might want to grab up a controller like a Apex controller by Neptune systems. Fail safes are always good.

I just stumbled on to that topic the other night, haven't started to research any of that yet! Is it expensive to add a controller??

Thanks Maddy!

Im not sure yet. I am thinking of starting out with a small nano for the bedroom. Maybe a 40g AIO and then get a 120 for the living room some time after.
Still have some house repairs going on from hurricane Harvey. So depending on how well that goes, will depend on where i start. Small or large lol.

They aren't cheap. But you can get A controller just for the heater under $50

Take a look at the tank I just got, the Innovative Marine Fusion 40 AIO. I think these little tanks are fantastic for the money...
