Hi all,
I hope you all are doing fine. The following is what brought me here. The truth be told I've been lurking for a couple months but without a system until now.
I just purchased a 90 Gal starter reef. I met a guy off craigslist that needed to sell his fairly new reef tank because they were moving. The setup is approximately 3 months old.
It consists of:
The move was approximately 12 miles. All I can say is that was a lot of work! I saved about 40% of the water and once I had everything reassembled I refilled the tanks with all the RO/DI water my system would deliver.
I'm not sure if the tank will cycle or not. I expect it to though.
Everything looks fairly balanced for the moment, so we'll see.
I've had aquariums most of my life, I had a 6 year hiatus after selling my last setup with my home. We decided it was time to get into it again. This is by far the largest tank I've ran. My previous tanks were 34, 55, 60. I've raised Cichlids (so. American and Africans) and Oscars. It's been 20 years since my last reef tank and boy has the technology changed and became much more expensive. So you see I'm not all that new to the hobby.
Any way that is pretty much it for the moment. I imagine I'll have a few Q's along the way.
So Hi there!
- A Glass 90 Gal 48"x24"x24" drilled tank with an internal overflow and a durso-standpipe for overflow.
- The overflow falls to the sump where the first chamber consists of a SWC 160 cone skimmer.
- The sump (40gal) consists of 5 chambers a bubble trap after the skimmer, which flows to a refrugium and then flows on to the pump section for uplift to the tank.
- In the pump section there are three pumps beside the uplift. One for an automatic top off system. One for the BRS Reactor and one for the UV sterilizer.
- An AquaLife T5 48x4 with moon leds
- There is a Hydor Koralia Smart wave controller with 3 wave motors.
- Finally there is the TruTemp controller and heater.
The move was approximately 12 miles. All I can say is that was a lot of work! I saved about 40% of the water and once I had everything reassembled I refilled the tanks with all the RO/DI water my system would deliver.
