A new store in Madison?

She mentioned on facebook that she planned to formulate her own food but I am hoping they will stock stuff I am familiar with as well.

I agree we need more variety in town. I would love to try the Rods Foods and their isn't a dealer anywhere close that I have seen.

Check out their facebook page, it may list the opening date on there. The name is Sailor's Reef & Exotics.

Have you ever considered making your own food, I used to buy rods food and LRS but stopped cause some pieces were too big for my fish to eat and I would always have to further blender it. I have saved a considerable amount of money buying food from the store and a couple supplements from Dr. fosters and smith and preparing my own. if you own a blender or one of those small food choppers it is really easy.

if they can cary LRS foods that would be AWESOME.

yea I tried once. unfortunately in Winchester, the Kroger doesnt have the best of selections. walmart is worse. the Reef frenzy is perfect for my fish as 1/2 of them are the size of my palm.

I just hung up with Jessica who is the owner of the shop. She appreciated my introduction and really liked our personal attention. I am sending dealer info and hopefully can get you guys a local source for LRS in Madison.

talking about making your own food, I use HPD, high performance diet, its loaded with minerals and vitamins. you can even add other things to it while making it, such as brine shrimp, Mysis shrimp, algae sheets, flake foods, garlic, and anything that you can think of. I used it to get my clownfish to eat when I first bought them two years ago, they would not eat any flake food just brine shrimp. so in order to get them the nutrition of flake foods and garlic etc, I used the HPD and loaded it with brine shrimp, flake food, and many others, the clowns soon learned by eating this that flake food was food because they noticed the brine shrimp in it. I even feed this stuff to my corals and mix coral frenzy in it. so far the corals that I found that love it (now keep in mind I don't have a lot of different corals but I am working on that lol) are open brain, frog spawn, purple tip torch, blasto, green candy cane, blue candy cane, and bubble coral. not much good on zoas or sps. and another cool thing is when I mix it up (about every 6 months) I can freeze it and use what I need till I need to make more. now I also feed other stuff to my fish and HPD only about twice a week, but when my fish see it, they go nuts for it. Now I'm not a rep for hpd and by no means am I saying that this is an all in one food that you will never need to by a diff type of food. I'm just saying that I have good results with it and my fish love it when I feed it to them. and its not messy to feed or make, plus I can add what I want to it and it all stays together not making my water cloudy.

best time is when they get their seafood delivery. still would be nice to have quality food like LRS and/or rods available at the storespecially when I don't feel like preparing my own.

sounds like something I will look into.

I saw this on their Facebook page: "Okay so I have decided to post an opening date! Not saying we won't open before this day, but MOST DEFINITELY by this day! So, mark it on your calendars, January 11th, 2014!"
