A Newbies attempt at a 48gal Corner tank

What a great rock formation!
Thanks! It was not easy getting that top piece to stay, needed a lot of putty and glue. Pretty happy with it now.

The coolest part is my cleaner shrimp usually guards the cave upside down like it's his.

My peppermint does the same thing. Always upside down in the back.

Found an awesome looking RTBA at my LFS today. Clowns were getting ancy so I went for it. Hopefully he's a good boy and stays.

The coral frag(still not sure what it's called) seems to be doing well and encrusting over its rock, cool to watch.

Looks good! My rastas grow pretty quickly. :)

Hopefully mine will too, zoas are the one thing in the tank that struggle to grow. Starting to feed them more will hopefully help

Try feeding some marine snow to them or the dirty water from your frozen food thaw cup with pumps off ;)

Thanks Jackie, I will try it. My friend had some extra Reef chili and I have been trying that for the past week or so, if that doesn't do the trick I will try the snow.

Ps the rasta blew away in the tank and I never found it :(

My rastas did the same. I can't keep red or blue hornets either...
I have 2 blue hornet polyps that started melting until I put them at the top of the tank. They open now and look good, but have not multiplied at all... When I was reading up on this hobby, I thought zoas were supposed to be easy!

I like plays better in some ways. They aren't likely to melt and they will grab food and eat it. Zoas are more finicky. Not all but mostly the tiny polyp ones IMO.

How's the tank doing?
Good! Thanks for asking. Actually had a power outage today for about 5 hours and had to use my truck and an inverter to keep pumps and heaters running, but everything seems OK! I'll post some pics soon.
