Early on in my tank's life I had a decent minicolony of utter chaos zoanthids. I moved them around and eventually they were overtaken by my gorilla nipple zoas. The other day I noticed a single tiny utter chaos polyp remaining in a sea of gorilla nipples...so I decided to go on a rescue mission.

There it is on the back of this rock.

I pulled the entire rock and was able to scrape the polyp off using a razor blade. Here it is on my frag rack after gluing...next to another sea of gorilla nipples. Haha!

Here it is after opening back up: a successful rescue! Fingers crossed it will settle in a multiply.

Awesome rescue! Stay safe working with these guys! That's a huge colony of GN!

I hate working with Palys - always so nervous about the toxin. Just had to scrape a colony of Krakatoas (probably over 25 polyps) off of thieir old base one lettle group at a time and glue them on a new one. Was all geared up: Gloves, mask, and safety glasses. The transplant took and even the polyps I damaged/popped have now recovered. Be safe with zoas and palys - they can really do a job on you!

Thanks @jcolliii ! Great advice and I definitely was careful: arm-length thick rubber gloves, goggles/mask and I tried to keep them underwater when working on them. I have some trash palys in the tank too that I've been slowly, carefully removing. Those things are as scary as they are ugly.

I need to do the same thing! I have like 3 heads of UC sitting in a sea of pinwheels.
Haha that gif!

You should do it! I wish I had done it sooner when there were more polyps remaining. If you can remove the rock from the tank it should be fairly easy to scrape them off.

My UC's were so beautiful at one point, so I'm hoping they'll come back to their former glory!
