A pump that turns itself on

No, not a hormone-driven dirty minded teenage pump.

Is there a pump that will turn itself on when water is present, and shut off when there is no water present? I have a crawl space, and I have a sump pump in said crawl space. It works in this manner - when enough water collects in the reservoir, the floaty thing tells it to pump the water, and it pumps until no water is left and then shuts off.

Is there a smaller, aquarium version of this?

this is achieved with float switches with a combination of any aquarium controller and any pump.

What is the application? There are definitely float valves that can be used for RODI or sensors as part of a controller package that can be programmed in the form of if/then

If you have an Apex controller or similar you could make something relatively easily, as said in the posts above, otherwise I dont know of anything
