So I got my pair of clowns on Saturday and when I was leaving the store the store owner told me I just need to get a anemone and the clowns will be happy but I told him that my lighting was basic that I had the Par 38 and he told me when it comes to anemone you just have to feed them good and they will happy, So is this true what is your guys experience or thoughts.

Clowns don't need an anemone to thrive. Plus you have to get the right anemone; some being more exacting than others. It's funny, I blast my magnifica with light and flow and never intentionally feed it. I'd suggest that a photosynthetic anemone needs strong light.

As mentioned, your Clowns don't need an anemone. You need to have good lighting, high PAR, for anemones to thrive. I don't believe a PAR38 will do it. I believe someone is trying to make a sale;)

That’s the thing this guy has been helping me from the start his the one that has brought my nano back to life after the crash I took and I’m a regular customer there and that’s why I’m asking u guys lol cause I’m confused

One cannot be an expert on everything. Perhaps he simply is misinformed. I've long found LFS employees to be quite dogmatic about perpetuating false information. Not intentionally, just because they repeat what they hear. You also don't say specifically what anemone. For the more tricky, host anemones like magnifica, haddons or gigantea, high light levels are most definitely required. You will then find, as I have, that target feeding the animal becomes unnecessary.

I agree with the above. I would also do allot of research on anemones and clown fish and which anemone is best suited for your type of clown fish. IME Anemones like well established and stable tank parameters.

My clowns had an anemone for about a year and enjoyed playing in it but honestly don't even notice it's gone. They still breed and lay eggs in the same spot and I never see them now because they would at least be darting in and out of the anemone but hey, at least they are doing well.

One of my clowns is 26 years old and his mate is about 18. They have never seen an anemone and probably can't spell it. But they also spawn every week or so.

You may want to keep in mind that the fish might not even interested in hosting what you put in the tank for them.
